OCULAR TRAUMAS WITH CHAMPAGNE CORKS

It have been studied the causes, frequency, time of occurring, localization and treatment tactics of ocular traumas with champagne corks in 156 patients that have been on checkup and treatment in Kiev center «Eye trauma» since 2000 till 2008. It has been determined that this kind of trauma happens the most often the day before 8th of March, at New Year, wedding and anniversary celebration. The typical traumas from champagne corks are ocular contusions of great degree, that may lead to blindness or eyeball loss. It has been cleared up that this kind of ocular trauma has firm connection to technical peculiarity of the drink, its corking and techniques of its opening.
